Blackburn frontman Jason Roberts has revealed he has held talks over extending his Ewood Park contract beyond 2010.
The 30-year-old former Wigan and West Brom striker is eager to secure his long-term future with Rovers after signing a four-year deal in July 2006.
Roberts had a transfer request turned down last January after a lack of first-team action, but the forward is now hoping to tie up his future.
He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "We have been having conversations and hopefully something will be concluded sooner rather than later.
"From my point of view, I am happy at the club, we have a great bunch of lads and looking forward to an exciting season.
"My contract does not run out until 2010 but I see no reason to leave and so would love to sort something out for longer.
"Early talks went well and we will be meeting again soon to get all the details sorted hopefully."
