Milner's England Aim
James Milner is determined to taste glory with England in Euro 2009.
The Three Lions are in Cardiff tonight for their play-off first leg before travelling to Villa Park for the decisive leg on Tuesday.
And the Villa winger believes Stuart Pearce's men have the quality to impress on the big stage in Sweden next summer.
"With the players we have had in the squad since I've been involved, and even before, England have had some very talented players, but we haven't won the European Championship for a long time," Milner said.
"People go on about there being a lack of English players coming through. But in the three qualifying campaigns I've been involved in with the under-21s we first lost to France in the play-offs, then last year we were knocked out in the semi-finals on penalties and now we've reached the play-offs again so hopefully we can progress even further.
"We are really determined to go all the way and it would be nice if we could finally win some silverware for England."
Milner was part of the England side that beat Wales 2-0 in Wrexham at the end of last season.
Tom Huddlestone and Theo Walcott were on target that night, but with a place at Euro 2009 up for grabs, Milner doesn't expect an easy two games.
"It's going to be completely different to the friendly in May. They'll be massively up for the game like us, with a place in the finals so close," added Milner.
"Some people might be expecting us to be favourites having already beaten them this year, but that means nothing now and we need to make sure we are in the right frame of mind and prepare as well as we have done for every game.
"It's going to be a massive game for us and very tough, so with the first leg being away, we need to make sure we go there and keep a clean sheet. With the quality we have going forward, hopefully we'll always get a goal.
"Our aim is to keep this run of clean sheets going. Our defensive form has been good and, if we can do that, we're confident we can get the result we want."
