Nathan Craig is aiming to recover from injury in time for the Everton Under-18s clash with Stoke on Saturday.
The Wales Under-17s international suffered a groin strain in training on Monday, but reckons he should be fit to play this weekend.
Craig started his first game for the young Blues against Blackburn last weekend and he will be hoping he can continue his run in the side.
The right-winger said: “I turned quickly in training and heard my groin go. I just need to keep some ice on it and I’ll be back by Friday.
“It was my first time to start this season. With a bit of luck one of the starters got injured and I was called in – it’s unlucky for them but good for me to start the game.
“I think I did alright, I played some good crosses into the box and I think we should have scored from two of them.
“But it depends on what the manager and the formation that he wants to play.”
After the hard fought draw against Blackburn, Craig thinks the side have a lot to learn – and need to be more ambitious when in and around the 18-yard box.
He continued: “To be honest, with the chances that both teams had, a draw was probably a fair result.
“We need more shooting around the box - I think that’s our weakness at the moment.”
