Sunderland will have six players representing their countries
all around the globe in World Cup qualifiers this weekend.
The Black Cats will have a total of 11 first team players on
international duty in the next week before Premier League football
returns next weekend.
El-Hadji Diouf is in the Senegal squad for
their qualifier at home to Gambia tomorrow, while Craig
Gordon is expected to play for Scotland
against Norway at Hampden Park.
Northern Ireland pair David Healy and
George McCartney are both in the squad for the
trip to Slovenia tomorrow, as well as a home tie against San Marino
on Wednesday - both World Cup qualifiers.
Marton Fulop is in Hungary's squad for
World Cup qualifiers at home to Albania next Saturday and in Malta
on Wednesday, while Dwight Yorke is in the T&T
squad for qualifiers against Guatemala tomorrow and USA on
Wednesday.
Meanwhile, young defender Michael Liddle is in
the Republic of Ireland Under-21s for a friendly in Lithuania next
Tuesday.
Anthony Stokes joins Liam
Miller, Daryl Murphy and Andy
Reid for Ireland's World Cup qualifier at home to
Cyprus on Wednesday.
Teemu Tainio was forced to pull out of
Finland's squad for their World Cup qualifiers at home to
Azerbaijan tomorrow and in Russia on Wednesday, while
Djibril Cisse, although provisionally called up by
France for qualifiers, did not make the final squad.
