Night To Remember
Two late goals from an 18-year-old substitute helped John Gregory's team turn the complexion of the 1998 UEFA Cup first round tie against Stromsgodset at Villa Park.
Trailing 2-0 to the Norwegian side, Gary Charles managed to pull a goal back in the 80th minute.
But it was the introduction of Darius Vassell for Darren Byfield three minutes earlier which really proved to be the decisive moment of the game.
Byfield, who missed several half chances, must have felt like the man who pumped silver into a one-armed bandit all night only to watch someone else hit the jackpot with his first two coins.
Ninety minutes were up when Vassell pounced on a mishit shot from Lee Hendrie to slam the ball into the net.
And he connected again in the poacher's zone three minutes later when Glenn Arne Hansen only parried an Alan Thompson shot to the youngster's feet.
Vassell's double was the highlight of that memorable night and you can watch both goals NOW on our new site, www.anighttoremember.tv.
